Edirol review

May 30th, 2009 by windmaomao

Edirol R-09 Wave/Mp3 Recorder

I bought Edirol R-09 about two years ago, since then I’ve been recording some vocal or guitar stuff here and there. Some of the cons and pros in the following.

  1. the sound quality isn’t bad for practice, clean dry is what we want
  2. the build-in reverb is nice, but you can have that on when you are recording
  3. handy, operate on two AA battery, it comes with a charger but I seldom use it
  4. The noise level is pretty loud IMO, it doesn’t pick up enough volume
  5. the output to computer interface isn’t quite convenient

In short, I like it a lot, I turn this thing on whenever I want to get a close sense of the sound I am working on. Put on a headset, you can ignore your neighbor then.

Hear the LineIn

November 12th, 2008 by windmaomao

Ever wonder to hear the sound from your mic or guitar directly without launching any giant recording software ? Here’s a nice little gadget tool LineIn from Rogue Amoeba. Now you can monitor any line-in devices un-noticed, if you know what I mean :)  I was looking for something like this for my digital recorder, and turns out this is free as long as I have my mac with me.

check out the recording of mouse click I did,
